I am currently looking into attacking my body with another tattoo....but this time I want to spend a lot more time researching tattoo's, all the possiblities, types of illustrations etc....and hopefully look at designing my own.
This is when I came accross the work of Alison Casson...
I discovered a few of her illustrations in TASCHEN ILLUSTRATION NOW....and fell in love with her style.
Although she's covered in tattoos...all of her illustrations are based on that of the typical style that tattoos tend to be done in.

Although she tends to stick to a similar style of working a lot of the time....it is also very varied.
Some of her illustrations are very simple, sticking to one colour and very linear. But then the majority of her work i have come accross is extremely detailed, using different qualities of line and all sorts of different medias.
It's fascinating work...and i hope to use her work to influence that of my own...not just when it's coming to desiging a tattoo.
I LOVE illustration, but have no confidence in producing a lot of it myself and is something i really want to look into in more detail.

"The visual language of Alison Casson is a unique blend of mixed materials often times incorporating collage, painting, pencil, fabric, sewing and digital. Her work is sentimental, romantic, aggressive and sexual. She clearly draws inspiration from the Victorian era, sailor tales, tattoo art and graffiti.
Alison's strong, nostalgic images tell tales of “every day heroes” that seem to be set upon a surreal stage in a back alley during some long forgotten era."
